Inside the report: fitness

What your DNA actually says about training.

It will not tell you to skip leg day. The fitness section reads the replicated markers behind muscle fiber type, aerobic response, and connective tissue, states each effect honestly, and links the study behind every card.

What this part of the report reads

These are real findings from the report, not a menu of promises. Every card shows your genotype, states the effect honestly, and links the study it comes from.

ACTN3

Muscle fiber type. The best-known sports gene: a power-vs-endurance lean in fast-twitch muscle, worth reading honestly rather than as a verdict.

GABPB1, NFIA-AS2

VO2max and endurance response. Leans in aerobic capacity and how it tends to respond to endurance training.

PPARD

Fat oxidation. How readily your muscles burn fat for fuel during long, steady work.

COL5A1, TNC

Tendon and ligament resilience. Connective-tissue variants linked to strain tendency, useful context for how carefully you ramp up load.

GDF5, TRHR

Strength and lean mass. Small leans in grip strength and lean body mass.

CKM, GALNT13

Sprint and power leans. Markers enriched in power athletes, read with honest effect sizes.

ACE and others

Blood pressure and hormones. ACE activity, blood pressure leans, and testosterone and SHBG levels, context for how your body responds to hard training.

How it works

STEP 01

Download your raw file

From 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, Genotek, or any lab that exports VCF. Our raw file guide shows where to click.

STEP 02

Your browser reads it

The file never leaves your device. Only the small set of markers the report uses is sent to build your report.

STEP 03

Read it, then talk to it

Connect the report to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Whoop Coach and ask questions in plain language.

Then you just ask

Connect the report to your AI once, and questions sound like this:

YouPlan my training week: two hard sessions, and my report says my recovery leans slow.
YouGiven my ACTN3 result, should I bias my program toward strength or endurance blocks?
YouMy report flags a tendon-strain lean. How should I change how I ramp up running volume?
YouI plateaued on VO2max. What does my report say about how I respond to aerobic training?

The honest part

Common variants are small leans, not verdicts. Genetics is one input next to sleep, training, diet, and stress. The report states effect sizes honestly instead of dressing leans up as destiny.
Every card links its study. Nothing in the report is invented for engagement. If a finding did not replicate in population research, it is not in there.
This is education, not medicine. The report does not diagnose anything, and clinical questions belong with a doctor.
The whole method is public. Sources, how several markers on one topic get combined, ancestry limits, and what we take out on purpose are written out in Methods and limits.

Questions people ask

Can DNA tell me the best sport for me?

No. Elite performance is stacked genetics plus years of training, and a consumer report cannot pick your sport. What it can do is show your honest leans, fiber type, aerobic response, connective tissue, so you train with them instead of against them.

Does ACTN3 decide whether I can build muscle?

No. Everyone builds muscle with progressive training. ACTN3 shifts the flavor of your ceiling slightly, and the report states that effect at its real size.

Do I have to upload my raw DNA file?

No. Your browser reads the file on your own device and sends only the small set of markers the report uses. The raw file itself is never uploaded or stored.

How much does it cost?

The analysis is free: drop your raw DNA file on helisoma.com and see real insights with no account. The full report is a one-time $49 payment with no subscription.

Also in the report

Fitness is one section. The same report reads your sleep and caffeine profile and your nutrition markers, plus stress, mood, and longevity markers.
